Measles now an outbreak in the Welsh Valleys – Post Office – and some rants

Covid, we wait – measles – it’s back with a new outbreak. Whether this is due to children not being given the MMR vaccine we don’t know. It’s in south east Wales

As the BBC reportsmeasles can be prevented by the MMR vaccine and PHW urged parents and guardians to check the vaccine status of their child by checking their red book or visiting their health board’s website. There is also the urge for parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated.

Post Office – run by thugs in suits, according to Alan Bates. He’s probably right. I’d go a bit further in trying to identify who supressed the information that the software was faulty. And yes, I’ve been there as a software engineer before I joined the University. At that time if we had let software out knowing it to be faulty we’d have lost a load of business. And we wouldn’t have a job. Who’s going to own up to this one? Or are they just too big?

At work today curing a SEFU,** which took time. It hour’s I’ll never get back. Something strange has happened which we need to get to the bottom of ,but probably won’t.

** Someone Else’s F*** Up.

Students in workshops today – we reached double figures – just – that was out of 40 who should have been there. Then it was vivas for those who had submitted work with a significant amounts of AI generated content. There were some today, and more tomorrow. I wish I knew who was running the module on generating excuses, because they’ve all obviously been on it.

And a final rant, there are emergency works going on closing the road to work. The village FaceBook forum has posts from people complaining. What part of the word ‘emergency’ don’t they understand?

And finally a pic of General de Gaulle in the bath.

In case you don’t recognise, The Brisons off Cape Cornwall.

And of you’re not old enough to know about the General, I am.
