Covid by age – comparing other infections – writing the handover lecture – six thousand hours of boring people

There has been a general in Covid positivity over the past few weeks but not in all age. groups. However the 5-14 group seems to be out-accelerating most others. 

Other viruses, excepting influenza are on the slight up.

A couple of weeks ago thee government released vaccinations for the over 75s and those with weakened immune systems. I asked my surgery this week and they’re expecting a release for lower age groups. I’ll go there when they do as they get money for each jab. There are no takeup figures yet.

Today been writing the handover lecture for staff for some of my duties. Remembering to include things has meant a number of rewrites. I have to keep it interesting otherwise, like students, they’ll switch off. 

Teaching stats for twenty one and a half years. Over that time I’ve probably given about a thousand lectures and two and a half thousand seminars and workshops. That means I’ve been boring people for about six thousand hours. I’ve probably marked about 8-9000 pieces of work, so that means we’re about equal on the boredom stakes.
